Mission Statement
"Justice through integrity, strength, and compassion. Our actions are guided by our mission, and our mission is informed by our values. The mission of this office is public safety. Whether it be through criminal prosecution and traditional punishment or alternative models, protecting the lives and property of the People of this County is at the core of what we do and who we are. We achieve that mission with integrity, strength, and compassion. Integrity means doing the right thing, holding ourselves to the highest ethical standards, and pursuing the truth no matter what. It means working closely with police agencies while maintaining our independence. It means being scrupulously honest in our dealings with the Courts, defense counsel, and the public. It means fighting for crime victims. And it means honoring the Constitution and the rights of defendants. Strength means being willing to make a stand, to enforce the law, and to do the right thing irrespective of whether it’s the popular thing. Strength also means staying open to criticism and learning from it. Compassion means remembering that we are dealing with real people -- people with families and friends, people who are more than their interactions with the criminal justice system. And of course, compassion means maintaining open communication with, offering support to, and speaking on behalf of crime victims, who so often go unheard, except through us." - DA Liberati-Conant |
