The following titles have been approved for the NYS HELP Program - there will be no exam:

Caseworker Assistants (HELP Program)
Community Services Aides (HELP Program)
Social Welfare Examiners (HELP Program)
Child Support Specialists (HELP Program)
Behavioral Health Care Coordinators (HELP Program)
Behavioral Health Social Workers  (HELP Program)
Peer Behavioral Health Care Coordinators (HELP Program)
Senior Behavioral Health Social Workers (HELP Program)
Healthy Neighborhoods Specialists (HELP Program)
Early Intervention Service Coordinators (HELP Program)
Public Health Technicians  (HELP Program)
Public Health Educators (HELP Program)
Crisis Intervention Workers (HELP Program)

Entry Level Law Enforcement exams:
The Deputy Sheriff and Police Officer exams are September 9, 2023.  Applications will be accepted until August 1st (postmarked by August 1)  For more details, go to the Open-Competitive tab and click on the title.

The exam for DEPUTY SHERIFF is scheduled for May 15-16, 2021 depending on total number of candidates.
Last file date is April 13th, no late applications will be accepted.

June 13, 2020 Civil Service exams are POSTPONED

Due to continued health concerns,  the Columbia County Civil Service exams scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2020 have been postponed.

MAY CIVIL SERVICE EXAMS POSTPONED

Due to continued public health and safety concerns, the Columbia County Civil Service exams scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2020 have been postponed.  At this time we are unable to provide an alternate test date.  All approved candidates will be notified by the Civil Service Department when a date and location have been determined.

Due to recent public health and safety concerns, the scheduled Columbia County Civil Service exams scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2020 have been postponed.  At this time we are unable to provide an alternate test date.  All approved candidates will be notified by the Civil Service Department when a date and location have been determined.

March 28, 2020 exams POSTPONED

Due to recent public health and safety concerns, the  Columbia County Civil Service exams scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2020 have been postponed.  At this time we are unable to provide an alternate test date.  All approved candidates who received an admittance letter will be notified by the Civil Service Department when a date and location have been determined.
Every effort will be made to address any questions or concerns in a timely manner.  We ask for your cooperation and patience as we navigate the current health and safety concerns.

RE: MARCH 14, 2020 EXAMS
**NOTE - due to ongoing concerns regarding the COVID 19 virus, we ask that if you are experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms,  please contact the Civil Service office at 518-828-6622 to arrange for an alternate test day.  We must receive a call or phone message by Monday, March 16th @ 10am.
