Columbia County Civil Service offers exams for the public as well as promotional exams for existing employees. Please visit the links below to obtain a list of the current available tests. If you have any questions concerning any of the exams listed please contact Civil Service directly at (518) 828-6622, Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am and 4pm.

To apply for an examination you must complete the application and return to Civil Service with the required filing fee. Please be sure you have both pages.

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office has posted the following jobs

Jail Cook
(Full Time)

This is an opening in the Jail for a full time cook. The salary starts at $27,882.00 per year. This is a forty hour per week position with days off rotating on a monthly basis. This cook will work primarily from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm. Individuals must be willing to work independently with and around inmates in the facility kitchen. Corrections Division Clerk Typist
(Part Time 17 ½ hrs per week)

This is an opening in the Jail for a part time Clerk/Typist. The hourly rate is $12.8953 per hour. This is a 17 ½ hour per week position which will work on days to be determined by the facility administration. This Clerk will be required to prepare and type letters and reports, answer phones, sort and file information among other departmental duties. Civil Division Clerk/Typist
(Part Time 17 ½ hrs per week)

This is an opening in the Civil Division for a part time Clerk/Typist. The hourly rate is $12.8953 per hour. This is a 17 ½ hour per week position which will work on days to be determined by the Sheriff. This Clerk will assist the Civil Clerk with the daily functions of the civil office. This individual will also be required to input data into a computer and maintain records as necessary. Applicants must reside in Columbia County and pass an extensive background investigation.
