Accepted Materials
No charge for recycling the following items:
COMMINGLED RECYCLABLES
All glass, tin and aluminum and plastic containers may be mixed
together. These items include tin and aluminum food and beverage cans; aluminum
foil and pie plates, all glass food and beverage containers, plastic containers
marked 1&2 and plastic coated milk and juice containers.
Please make sure your recyclable products are free from any outer packaging
and do not flatten your tin and aluminum cans.
Do not include EMPTY motor oil and antifreeze bottles – they should
be disposed of with your garbage.
COMMINGLED PAPER PRODUCTS
All recyclable paper products may be mixed together. These
items include newspaper, cardboard, magazines, junk mail, office paper, brown
kraft bags, telephone directories and boxboard (examples: cereal, tissue,
shoe boxes).
Please remove all staples, tape and packaging. Please place all items in
a brown bag or tie with twine. Do not place in plastic bags.
Please remember to tear or shred any paperwork that includes important information
regarding you or members of your household before recycling to help prevent
IDENTITY THEFT. These items may include:
• Bills & financial statements
• Pre-approvals for credit cards
• Credit cards & ATM receipts
• Any document that has your signature, account numbers, social security
numbers, medical or legal information.
BRUSH/TREE LIMBS
Residential grass clippings, leaves and tree trimmings are
accepted at the Greenport Transfer Station ONLY. Material may be no longer
than 4’ in length and 4” in diameter.
