Welcome to the Columbia County Real Property Tax Service Agency’s website. We have compiled information that we hope will assist you in quickly finding data that pertains to Real Property Tax. This Agency has many functions and duties which include, but are not limited to:
• Liaison between the State and Local Government on Property Tax Administration
• Assist the NYS Office of Real Property Tax Services (ORPTS) in the
training of Town Assessors
• Maintain Tax Maps
• Train members of the Local Boards of Assessment Review
• Process & Print Town/County Tax Rolls & Bills (January 1);
Tentative Assessment Rolls (May 1); Village Tax Rolls & Bills (June 1); Final
Assessment Rolls (July 1); School Tax Rolls & Bills (July 15 & September 1)
• Develop procedures associated with the preparation and maintenance of
Assessment Rolls
• Coordinate countywide revaluation programs and assist with town
revaluation programs as needed
• Process applications for corrected tax billings
• Serve as the clearinghouse for the collection and distribution of
information relating to the assessment of Real Property
• Explain the affects of proposed NYS Real Property Tax Legislation
• Provide education and information necessary in the decision making
process prior to the enactment of various local option Real Property Tax
Exemptions
• Provide assistance to the public regarding Real Property Tax Matters
