This project’s primary goal is to reduce the incidence of unnecessary incarceration in the Columbia County Public Safety Facility by objectively assessing a defendant’s background to determine eligibility for release on own recognizance (ROR) or release under supervision (RUS). The Court makes the final determination in all cases; the District Attorney’s Office is advised of eligible candidates. This program allows for a reduced jail classification for housing inmates in this county per section 500-b of NYS Corrections Law. |
